The inland beaches of Álava once again fly the symbol of quality.
Álava once again has blue flags on its beaches, for the fifth year running. This was recognised by ADEAC, the environmental education and consumer association, and the International Jury for Blue Flags, which included the beaches of Landa, Garaio North and Garaio South in the list of beaches certified under this scheme to promote and recognise official and public efforts to meet the required standards of legality, accessibility, sanitation, environmental education, cleanliness and safety.
Landa and Garaio beaches are on the Ullíbarri-Gamboa reservoir, just over 10 kilometres from Vitoria-Gasteiz. This is one of the most popular spots with local people in spring and summer, thanks also the easy access by bicycle on the Vasco Navarro Green Way towards Arlaban.
