On August 4th thousands will gather at the plaza de la Virgen Blanca Square in order to enjoy the beginning of the most important fiestas of Alava’s capital.

Korterraza Gasteiz returns to the summer of Alava, the open-air short film festival, with the most outstanding short films of the year. Korterraza Gasteiz celebrates its ninth edition from 26 to 28 July in the inside square of Artium.

As a warm-up of the Virgen Blanca festivities on July 25th, Santiago Day, Vitoria-Gasteiz celebrates Day of the Blouse and the Neska. About 25 mixed «cuadrillas» -groups of boys and girls; boys’ cuadrillas are known as «blusas» and girls’ «neskas»- dress a dark smock («blusa»), espadrilles and a neckerchief.

Gorbeia Natural Park is well-known to Basque mountaineers. The Gorbeia cross sits aloft Mount Gorbeia (1,482 m) whose summit straddles the border between Bizkaia and Alava.
